Greater carbon reductions come from insulating your loft than any other efficiency measure. It also pays for itself in a couple of years. However, lots of us still don't have loft insulation. So take the first step (up the ladder) and measure the depth of insulation in your loft. If it is less than 20cm then you really need some more.

It took us a while to realise our loft needed more insulation, but then we got some great recycled PET (plastic not animal!) insulation so our loft is now like a big snow scene. The house feels warmer too.
